Konstruksi pembangunan Jalan Tol Semarang-Demak memakai bahan bambu sebagai bahan matras jalan. Sebelumnya dilakukan pengujian untuk mengukur kelayakan bahan bambu. Pengujian yang dilakukan terdiri dari 2 jenis yaitu uji tarik sistem matras bambu dan uji lentur sistem matras bambu. Selain itu, masih ada 4 fakta lainnya mengenai pebangunan tol Semarang-Demak ini, berikut penjelasannya :
Dua Kali Pengujian
Pengujian dilakukan untuk mempersiapkan bahan bambu yang digunakan sebagai konstruksi matras untuk mempercepat waktu konsolidasi pada tanah di lokasi konstruksi jalan tol.
Jadi Terobosan
Uji lentur sistem matras bambu baru pertama kali dilakukan dan diharapkan bisa memberikan terobosan dalam solusi perkuatan tanah lunak yang murah dan tepat guna. Lalu dengan mempertimbangkan suasana pandemi COVID-19 kegiatan pengujian dilakukan dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan yang ketat dan disediakan fasilitas penyaksian pengujian secara virtual atau live streaming.
Terintegrasi Tanggul
Pembangunan jalan tol ini terintegrasi dengan tanggul laut. Struktur timbunan di atas laut direncanakan diperkuat oleh matras bambu setebal 17 lapis. Selain sistem matras bambu, penguatan kondisi tanah dilakukan juga dengan cara pemasangan material pengalir vertikal pra-fabrikasi atau PVD serta melaksanakan pembebanan menggunakan material pasir laut yang diambil menggunakan alat Trailing Suction Hopping Dredger atau TSHD.
Penuh Tantangan
Dalam proses pembangunan ini ada tantangan berat lain yaitu pada proses pengadaan tanah yang masih terbentur pada pelaksanaan penentuan tanah musnah dan regulasi atau payung hukum yang belum terbit terkait penanganan dampak sosial atas tanah musnah dalam rangka pembangunan untuk kepentingan umum.
