Sebuah bangunan atau gedung membutuhkan 3 elemen utama yang terdiri dari Mekanikal, Elektrikal dan Plumbing atau dalam dunia Perusahaan Kontraktor Bangunan biasa disebut dengan istilah MEP. MEP (Mekanikal, Elektrikal dan Plumbing) lebih kepada fungsi pemanfaatan dan prasarana dari sebuah bangunanan.
Sistem Mekanikal dalam MEP yang dimaksud yakni sistem kerja mesin pada bangunan. Dalam sebuah gedung akan terdapat mesin-mesin kecil dan berat yang difungsikan sedemikian rupa untuk menunjang efektifitas dalam fungsi gedung. Pekerjaan mekanikal ini diantaranya adalah lift, escalator, AC, pemadam kebakaran dll.
Sistem Elektrikal mengambil peran pada bagian sistem kelistrikan. Disamping sistem mekanikal, ada sistem yang sangat penting yaitu sistem elektrikal dimana pekerjaan ini meliputi instalasi pemasangan listrik, grounding listrik, instalasi jaringan komputer, instalasi jaringan telpon dan internet, CCTV, genjet cadangan listrik dll. Pada gedung bertingkat biasanya membutuhkan energi listrik yang cukup besar, oleh karena itu pendistribusian energi listrik harus diperhitungkan sebaik mungkin agar energi listrik dapat terpenuhi dengan baik
Sedangkan sistem Plumbing adalah sistem intalasi pemasangan pipa yang meliputi saluran pembuangan kamar mandi dan wc, air hujan, instalasi pipa air, instalasi pipa gas. Dalam mengatur pemipaan, dibutuhkan jenis pipa dari berbagai bentuk. Mulai dari pipa berukuran kecil, sedang hingga pipa besar. Pipa pipa tersebut diatur sebaik mungkin oleh kontraktor plumbing yang telah berpengalaman.

Recently, a new class of materials called metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has shown great promise for catalytic applications. MOFs are porous materials consisting of metal ions or clusters linked together by organic ligands. They offer high surface area, tunable porosity and functional groups, and the ability to incorporate various metal species into their structures. In a recent study, researchers designed and synthesized a novel MOF containing atomically dispersed copper (Cu) sites for NO₂ reduction. The researchers used a strategy called “post-synthetic modification” (PSM) to introduce Cu sites into the MOF framework. The resulting material, named Cu-MOF-74-PSM, showed excellent NO₂ reduction activity and selectivity, as well as high stability under harsh reaction conditions. To investigate the catalytic properties of Cu-MOF-74-PSM, the researchers performed a series of experiments using a flow reactor system. They found that Cu-MOF-74-PSM could selectively reduce NO₂ to N₂ with high conversion efficiency (>95%) and selectivity (>99%) at low temperatures (120-180°C) and under atmospheric pressure. The catalyst also showed good stability over 10 reaction cycles, indicating its potential for practical applications. Further analysis using various techniques such as X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations revealed that Cu-MOF-74-PSM had high-density Cu sites with a unique electronic structure, which contributed to its high NO₂ reduction activity and selectivity. The researchers also demonstrated the importance of PSM in controlling the dispersion and coordination of Cu sites within the MOF structure. In summary, the researchers developed a new MOF-based catalyst with atomically dispersed Cu sites for efficient and selective reduction of NO₂.
